Last Epoch Review

A time-traveling ARPG with deep character customization and endless dungeon crawling.

Last Epoch is a hack and slash action RPG where you travel through time to save the world of Eterra. By exploring Eterra's past and future, you'll battle enemies, collect loot, and customize your character with a massive skill tree and crafting system. With a recently released full game and an emphasis on replayability, Last Epoch offers a deep and challenging experience for ARPG veterans and newcomers alike.

Initial finding on deck For a game that does not advertise it self as a compatible game on Deck it is actually rather solid. There are some performance related issuse that I came over by running in desktop mode and also reducing the frames to 40fps for stability. The text can also be rather small and fuzzy at times which means that when theory crafting I'd rather be on a desktop but for getting involved in the action it plays very well. The controls are fully customisable so you can play how you want.

Last Epoch has a fully playable offline mode which is a massive plus verses games like Diablo 4 which are live service games. You'll need to activate the Full offline mode in the game properties under lauch options. Once you've done that enter offline mode by pressing the box on the screen and chose your offline character.

Conclusion - If you're after a Diablo IV alterntive with greater indepth theory crafting but not as complicated as Path of Exile, Last Epoch hits a sweet spot. The compatibilty of deck though not fully supported on Deck is still good enough to have a solid game session. If you're stuggling with latency issues whilst playing online and you've done all the necessary network checks and performance changes I would run the game i the desktop mode which seems to sort out the heavy dropped frames. The best experience is streaming from PC to the Deck when you're at home but for a game on the move you'll get enough enjoyment from this to satisfy you ARPG needs.
